When I have a few moments to mosey around and see what people are making or doing or saying in their corner of the blog world, my interest is often stirred by those that offer up details of their life, spilling their feelings and stories like the pages of an open book.

I find myself drawn into their daily happenings through the funny things their kids did, the places they visited, the happy moments that they share and the sad ones too.

Oftentimes, I wish that I was the kind of person who could talk about similar things here, but I know that that’s not really who I am. I’m more inclined to show you little things that I love melded with snippets of my life. In the life that I share here, I’m probably more like a short story than a novel…or perhaps I’m more like a paragraph.
I might talk about a recipe that I made or a place that I visited or tell you how I grew cosmos this year and then go on to say that this is the first year I planted them and probably not the last since they did so well…spouting tall, looking all pretty and wispy and such.

And of course, I would show you some pictures, because that’s what we do, but for me, that’s the best part. It’s how I tell my story.

Perhaps my life here is just a picture book…and a few rambling captions.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
xo

You had me at the first photo with the flowers on the book – simple and colorful.
When I get a new magazine, I first flip through and look at all of the pictures and I do the same when looking at a blog. If the pictures are not particularly pleasing, I might not go back and read the entire post.
Yesterday, I decided I would write a post mostly with photos to practice my photography. How serendipitous that I clicked on your post early in my search today!

There's absolutely nothing wrong with keeping your life private. I must admit I'm quite amazed how people want everyone to know every aspect of their life. I love your blog just the way it is. Your photos are simply beautiful.

I love your blog, Tricia…your gorgeous photos tell a story. I don't often share a lot of personal things on my blog either, as much of my family prefers it that way. But we can share beauty and what we are interested in. Your blog is inspiring and beautiful…

You do a beautiful job of telling your story through photos. Keep it up! I write my heart out quite often, but it's the photos that really inspire me. I don't know that people really read all the words anyway. π

you always have the prettiest of books to look at that tells a story all it's own, without words. i can relate though…i wouldn't say i'm an open book either on my blog, i tend to share just projects and decor and such, but that's what i chose to base my blog about, i suppose. i do enjoy the funny/interesting/heart felt stories in the more "open book" blogs very much though!!
Robin Johnson says
I don't know about anyone else but I LOVE short stories! LOL. I think they way you write your blog is wonderful. I'm always drooling over your gorgeous photos and giggling to myself over your banter. I know how you feel about the "open book" sort of blogs. At times I wish I were more like them also but I know its just not me. Maybe it's becuase I don't take the time to think of things too much, I'm more excited about moving on to the next thing. who knows . . . I do think there is a spot in the blog world for both types of blogs and between us, your type is much better in my book!
on a side note, love, love, love, cosmos. Haven't grown them myself in years and I can't say why for sure. This post has put them on "must plant next year" list! Thanks!

Beautiful images here. I especially like the simple, yet stunning flowers and the detail that the book you've chosen is written in French. I also love your description of lives as books. I'm a particular fan of words and the well-turned phrase. I would be, by the definition contained here, a book flung open. *grin*
I surfed here through Encouragement is Contagious and what a lovely shore I've found to loiter on.
Blessings,
