    Happy Thoughts

    12/10/2012 · by Tricia

    White poinsettias
This morning, as I look out my window at a blanket of fresh snow swirling around outside and children headed off to school all bundled up for the blustery weather, I think to myself about how happy I am to be nestled here in my house along with my little girl, feeling all nice and cozy and wonderful.

I wasn’t feeling quite so joyful yesterday when the snow kept falling and falling. “Will it never end?!” I thought. My daughter just couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t happy about the snow and began telling me all the fun things I could do outside during the winter…sledding, making snowmen, or finally wearing the snowshoes I got last winter when there was no snow. She must have figured that I wasn’t quite convinced when, exasperated, she finally said, “Well, snow is white and you LOVE white, remember?” Well, yes, this is true.

When I thought for a moment about all she had to say, I started to remind myself that sometimes a person just needs a different outlook on life. Lately, I’ve been busy with this and that, just taking in the season and trying to enjoy the moments that each day brings…obviously, I overlooked the benefits of snow.

I really love this time of year and all its festivities. How happy everyone seems and how that joyful spirit seems to shine. It’s a feeling that I wish I could capture all year long.

I got a new book the other day called Every Day a Friday. Have you heard of it? It’s written by Joel Osteen. I’ve always thought that he seems like Mr. Positive, a ray of happiness no matter the circumstances.

Anyway, I just happen to come across the book. I like thinking that God put it in my path and that reading it will perhaps give me an extra little spark and a fresh outlook. Who doesn’t need that sometimes, right? I might even put my boots on and play outside today!

Well, lovely people, I hope your week is off to a wonderful start and that you’re filled to the brim with happiness. I’ll be back in a few days with a decorating post.

    See you soon…

This post sure did brighten my morning! I wish you a happy day and go enjoy that snow! Think of how wonderful it feels to warm up with comfy clothes and hot chocolate. πŸ™‚

I love Joel's books but haven't read that one. He always says the right things and gets me thinking about what's really important.

Have a wonderful day and can't wait to see how you've decorated. XO

Snow is white! πŸ™‚ Smart little girl. πŸ™‚ It is grey and dark here today… But I think days like this help is appreciate those days with trees filled with spring blossoms, ect. God blessed us with this world of variety and wonder. πŸ™‚ Wow I can't believe you got snow! We are supposedly going to get some this week. I can't wait to see our prairie dusted in snow! Very pretty images, as always! Good to hear from you!! πŸ™‚

Your little girls attempts to cheer you are the most precious miracle here…that she saw you and kept trying to say the one thing that would change your "unnecessary" mood…THAT is the beauty.
I wish we had a bit of snow here too, I'm even thinking of ways to conjure up some fake (not!) snow in my environment because I'm in South Florida and the humidity and heat is still "on", AC even on. yuck. A good short season of snow is so powerfully cleansing and beautifying in so many ways…..ways we (here) never get to see…no changes, just the same. ! blessings, lady

I love how white the snow makes the world around me – but IΒ΄m not that fond of cold, so itΒ΄s 50/50 between pure joy and irritation right now, haha! πŸ˜€

Beautiful, Tricia! I was packing up from our last sale in all that snow yesterday…when watching a group of children totally enjoying sledding across the street, gave me a quick attitude adjustment lol! They were having so much fun! So, soaked and cold, I found the humor in the situation and had a good time with it!

For some reason the fresh fallen snow gives me a sense of all is right in the world. The unseasonably warm weather we've been experiencing just doesn't do it for me! I'm off today and I've been playing outside in the snow and feeling like a kid again. It's good to see the world through a child's eyes.

Lovely photos, Tricia! Happy winter wonderland!

Beautiful colors in the pictures. You can send that snow this way. We are known for having snow in Buffalo and nothing, not enough for the poor kids to go out and play in. I like your daughter's comment about you loving white. Now you can enjoy staying inside out of the snow with your new book.

Your daughter's comment is so funny and sweet too! I have been complaining about the constant hot weather here in Houston. It's been in the 80's. I was so happy when the tempature dropped down to 50 yesterday. But then later in the day I found myself snapping at my little guy because he didn't get in the car fast enough and "it's cold outside". I thought I was supposed to be enjoying out one day of cold weather? Sometimes perspective is everything.

I have been complaining about the constant rain all year, and I have been truly happy when we got snow on the First Sunday Of Advent. It lasted only 3 days, and then back to rain again… Enjoy the book, it sure sounds interesting.

I can honestly say I love the snow. But I am guessing that's because It never snow's where I live. I do love to drive up to Utah and go snow skiing. That is the only time I have been around snow. But I still think I would love to live somewhere where it snowed. Your photos are always so beautiful. You definitely have a gift!

Hope you are enjoying the holiday season.
