    A New Little Love

    08/04/2011 · by Tricia

Blueberries and purple jackmanii clematis on a white plate.
I have to tell you, I have a new love.  No, it’s not a sweet someone or a cute furry little friend.  It’s photographing food.  Ohhhh…love it!  So much so, that I just got a new book about food styling and photography the other day and I can’t wait to devour all the words of wisdom it holds inside.

Today, I thought I’d combine my love of  food and flowers into a photo frenzy of pretty, purple profusion.  Try saying that three times fast!  A few weeks ago, my Jackmanii clematis was laden with blooms…just look at them all.
    A profusion of Jackmanii clematis.
Wanting to make use of their prettiness, I paired them with some deliciously plump blueberries. Together, they felt so summery.  I took these photos when it was so hot, hot, hot outside and since the berries were frozen, they thawed out and got all nice and frosty in no time.
    A blueberry-topped cheesecake on a plate.
My sister, the baker extraordinaire, whipped up these yummy little blueberry-topped cheesecakes for birthday week.  Don’t they look delicious?! It was my mom’s, dad’s and brother-in-law’s birthdays, all just a few days apart.  I think I gained a few pounds on the day we celebrated since she also made strawberry shortcake and chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches.  Sometimes I just can’t control myself.

Well, sweet friends, that’s all I got for ya today.  Hope you’re having a great week.

    Until next time…

    xo Tricia

      Hi Tricia 🙂

You got it! Yay! Isn't it just the best book? I am so happy I bought it; I have learned so much about natural lighting from it. Your photos are so beautiful and charming.. love the blueberries! The muffin looks incredible! You know something? I am falling a little in love with food photography, too. Not so much the cooking/baking part, but assembling and the colors. I think my future holds a little bit of exploring food photography. I keep checking out all the up-to-date cookbooks.. Donna Hay.. Martha.. ect.. I can not stop soaking in all the gorgeous food photographs! Your clematis plant is vibrant! It looks so good in the pics!
